Training Services On Demand, Inc. (TSOD: http://www.tsod.com/) recently completed a series of presentation skills workshops for senior-level professionals at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in Bethesda, Maryland, according to Marcia George, customer service director for TSOD.
"The federal scientists we trained are literally defining the future of infectious disease research," said Frank Whyte, chief instructor for Training Services On Demand, who was assisted by TSOD's Tim Sharp in facilitating the workshops. "We are privileged to partner with a forward-thinking agency whose commitment to public health extends to ensuring that its communication products reflect its scientific savvy."
TSOD Presentation Skills Workshops provide team-based communication skills training through two days of interactive lessons that include videotaped exercises and on-the-spot coaching. Interactive curriculum sessions include presentation planning, using audio/visuals, interacting with an audience, overcoming objections, using humor, and optimizing one's public speaking presence. A condensed, one-day course is available without the video coaching component.
"This is the same program we've delivered for Goodrich Aerospace, Puma Athletic, C-SPAN, TIAA-CREF, and -- on an annual basis -- the Social Security Administration's Presidential Management Fellows Program," Whyte said. "We're overjoyed to add the National Institutes of Health to a growing, blue-chip client list."
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. For more than 50 years, NIAID research has led to new therapies, vaccines, diagnostic tests, and other technologies that have improved the health of millions of people in the United States and around the world.
