Crew Resource Management (CRM) Course Description
Bring Proven Team Building Tools to Your CRM Program
TSOD's Crew Resource Management Training Module dovetails with your existing CRM training curriculum, adding valuable insights on interpersonal communication and decision-making.
Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®), we provide each crewmember with a detailed analysis of his or her personality type. The results are revealed through an interactive, enjoyable, meaningful half-day CRM training workshop.
Engineered by One of Aviation's Most Respected Trainers
The program was created and is facilitated by Frank Whyte, the pilot and flight instructor who crafted the FAA's Model Regional Airline Advanced Qualification (AQP) Training Program. A former Air Safety Foundation Vice President, Whyte's aviation journal articles and seminars have been widely lauded as industry standards for flight crew performance training.
Using MBTI, Whyte reveals how each CRM participant communicates, makes decisions, accepts new information, and organizes his or her life. The result is a flight crew capable of uncommon coordination, particularly when flight deck and cabin crewmembers attend the program together.
A Results-Oriented Exploration of Communication & Cooperation
MBTI® is one of the world's foremost tools for corporate teambuilding. Through this scientific assessment of personality type, participants learn how their personal preferences differ from those around them. This essential core of understanding opens new paths of communication, team decision-making, and true cooperation.
The adaptation of MBTI® to CRM Training was a natural link for Whyte, whose aviation training efforts evolved into a successful career in organizational development. Using MBTI® to help Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and high-tech startups overcome teamwork obstacles, Whyte recognized that this powerful tool needed to become part of CRM training curricula.
Whyte crafted a results-oriented MBTI® CRM workshop, incorporating user-friendly insights that flight crews can use on a day-to-day basis.
Your Crews Will Benefit From:
- Improved Communication through a revealing exploration of the different ways in which team members send and receive information,
- Reduced Conflict, as the team gains the ability to recognize and minimize unnecessary clashes between dissimilar personality types,
- Decreased Stress, as your team discovers how to sidestep anxiety-generating and time-consuming interpersonal issues,
- Better Team Relationships, Heightened Morale, and Greater Camaraderie, boosted by a lively team building session, and sustained by the healthy insights harvested in that program.
Logistical Considerations
We conduct programs at customer locations, for groups of 7 - 40 participants. We recommend attendance by mixed groups of flight crew and cabin crew. There are no ''public'' seminars.
Each participant in the planned CRM training program must complete the MBTI® instrument. It's a 93-item questionnaire that scientifically gathers information about personal preferences. The completed MBTI® questionnaires must be returned to TSOD for scoring at least two weeks prior to the CRM session.
The results are used to create a customized CRM training workshop experience, and are provided to workshop participants in a 25-page, customized MBTI® Profile booklet.
